
From St Jean du Gard, follow signs to the Corniche des Cévennes. When you reach the village of St Roman de Tousque, turn right on to the D140 and drop down into the valley.

Visit the Temple de la Boissonnade (also called Notre Dame de Valfrancesque, a listed historic monument). Also, visit the castle of Moissac-Vallée-Française.

Follow signs to Ste Croix Vallée Française along the D983. This village is the economic centre of the valley, with its shops and a small market on Sunday mornings (local produce). To visit: castle, Romanesque church.

Below the town hall, follow the D24 to Gabriac and visit the Chapelle de St Jean de Gabriac, which has been renovated recently.

Drop back down to Ste Croix de Caderle and follow signs to Pont Ravagers. As you exit the village, leave the main valley to visit a secondary valley (Trabassac).

Discover La Roquette footpath, created by the Cevennes National Park within the framework of the local museum.

Drop back down to Pont Ravagers and continue along the D183 towards Molézon. Do not miss the Romanesque gate at Molézon.

Return to the D983 and continue towards the Barre des Cévennes. After several kilometres, a footpath on the right-hand side leads up to the Tour du Canourge (castle tower of Cevenol feudal castles). Information sheet available at the footpath's departure point.

Continue along the D983. On the left, you will find the Magnanerie de la Roque (04.66.45.11.77 or at weekends 04.66.49.83.01), one of the rare buildings still preserved which is devoted entirely to silkworm farming.

Continue along the D983 until you reach the crossroads with the D62 to Le Pompidou. In the village, visit the church of St-Flour-du-Pompidou, with its excellent acoustics, where many classical music concerts and choirs are recorded.
